The End of 2007

New Years Eve found us at the Sutherland Nature Sanctuary again. It was a most enjoyable way to end the year. A fresh batch of snow fall was on the ground so we saw lots of animal tracks and signs of life among the beautiful scenery of the snow dusted trees.








Our dear friend Vicki (on the left) was visiting us this past weekend and it was a joy to have her along for the walk through the woods.

After our walk was done we headed over to our friend, Mr. Reiche's house to try out his new snow slide. We had visited a couple weeks ago and were waiting for enough snow to go sledding again. This time he had done some construction and built a platform to help launch us off onto the iced runway. The thrilling drop off of the ledge brought many a scream and gasps and hoots of laughter broke forth as certain persons totally missed the path and blazed their own trails across the yard! A most enjoyable time was had by all, though some left early due to frozen toes and inadequate sledding apparel (blogger speaking =}) and we cannot wait to go sledding again as we just received a huge dumping of snow today (pictures soon to come)!

Game Night

Last Friday night we enjoyed a time of fellowship with friends amidst food and games. Dominoes, Uno, Predicament & Remedy and Taboo were some of the games played that evening, filling the house with laughter, cries of desperation and rejoicings along with the over all hum of 23 voices!

These two gentlemen blessed and confused our company by dressing alike...can you guess whose who?

As Faith and I pulled into a parking spot recently at a nearby store, my eyes did a double take as I saw this unusual sight parked in front of us. What a hoot!!! Of all the dog breeds that could look the best in this setting this one says it all! Someone said that the next best would have been if the pooch had it's paws on the steering wheel!

Anyways it brought us a good laugh and this image.

Snow Day!

Even though today is looking like anything but the 'first day of Winter', here is a post commemorating a fun snow day with a few "firsts" for the record! On Monday this week, after the big snowfall, we celebrated the coming of winter by learning how to ice skate! Yes, it is true, not a single one of the Sauve children have ever ice skated before! Over the past two years or so we have started to collect a couple skates but never had the opportunity to learn while Downriver. We still have yet to obtain skates for Charity, Christianna, Josiah and John (there just has to be size 17 skates out there right?).
Early in the afternoon we were joined by the Eddy children as we headed down to the Brysons, had a quick sleigh ride (another first) down to the pond and started to clear the almost foot of snow off of the ice. That took a while but we finally were able to clear enough to skate on and the fledgling Sauves took to the ice. What Fun!! Yes, it took a little while to get used to but as the hours pasted we were skating around there like nothing and even though Josh had to take his off because they were hurting his ankles, the guys got a hockey game going and I(Grace) played Zamboni/snow scraper for the rink.

As the day wore on and our toes were calling for warmth, the ladies of the group indulged in another tractor pulled sleigh ride down the road and back again until it was time to head home for good.

What a fun and enjoyable way to celebrate this unique season that God has given us. We thank Him for safety and blessing of friends and pray that you all will too be safe, stay warm and don't forget to give God the Glory!

Sing O Sing!

Sunday evening we enjoyed fellowship with the Eddy and Bryson families as we got together for a time of singing!








It was a fun and joyful evening with our dear friends!
