The 114th Birthday,of......

Cathy

And Carmen!

Oh, divided by two=p A banana chocolate swirl cake covered with peanut butter filled M&M's. Mmmmmm!

Happy Birthday to you!

Kisses for Dad!

After we had stuffed ourselves on cake and Ice cream, the presents began. Both of the "girls" love pistachios.

Aunt Carmen gave Mother the classic version of the game PIT. We children are going to have fun with that!!

Then as we slowly digested we enjoyed the beautiful river flowing by. You can tell how much Josiah had been eating, look at that bench tip. =}

We were also visited and subsequently amused by the extremely friendly gray squirrels that haunt the picnic areas around the river.

Awwwwwwww!

We even had a couple ships come by just in honor of Mumsie and Aunt Carm!;)

Happy Birthday Mumsie!!!!!

Celebrating the Fourth: Part 2; As the birthday of our own Firecracker.

Faith Ann Sauve

The second half of the day was spent in the celebration of Faith's 2..." birthday. Anyone want to guess what her exact age is?

We had all our relatives over for dinner, and though it was hot out in the sun, under the willow tree with the breeze it was just right.

Faith took our gardening expert, Aunt Myrt, on a tour through our garden, asking for tips and showing off our carrots. (which we are all immensely proud of, as we have never grown carrots before let alone big healthy beautiful ones=)

Dad worked the grill while everyone else walked around out back. The hamburgers were extremely succulent by the way!

Let the feasting begin!

After dinner we all headed down stairs for cake and Ice Cream. Okay, most of you know our tradition of creative shaped and decorated cakes. Faith does not always have cake as her taste buds lean more towards pie and such. But when ever she asks for a cake these words always follow. "Make a shape that has never been done before". Well with 7 children each having a birthday every single year (shocking I know ;) and all insisting on a new shape, Mother was fast running out of ideas. So after racking our brains and narrowing down suggestions, Mother and I chose to make Faith a cake looking like her garden, with raised rows and all! The rows are made of Butterfingers and Three Musketeer Candy bars;)

Happy Birthday Dear Faith!! May God bless you in the years to come.

Celebrating the Fourth: Part 1; As our nations Birthday.

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

We, as a nation, have so much to celebrate, especially in the way of Gods grace on us, in not judging us for all our rebellion against him. Let us pray for a revival this year and a turning back to God, on personal and church level as well as national.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This year, as usual, our family headed down town to watch the Hadley Parade. Hadley is a very small town, but for one day (4th of July) its popluation at least triples. As always there are lots and lots of Tractors in the parade, but since I think you all know what they look like, I am going to show you some of the unique and creative entries, and there were quite a few!
Whoa, don't fall!! ;-)
This was one of the most creative vehicles. A tiller and plow!
Then there was the bubble blowing time machine, which seemed to float its way down the parade route.
There were many classic cars, and this one was Joshua's favorite. Beautiful blue colors.
And this was Faith and my pick. I just love the creative two tones in old cars, no new cars are half as nice looking.
My favorite part, the beautiful horses!
We even had one of the forefathers in our parade!
This year, for some reason, though the firetrucks were in the parade, there was no spraying of water as in former years. Most of us were not bothered by that;)
And the vehicle that makes the Hadley Parade what it is, The old "Kalifornia 'er Bust" (probably bust) truck. I didn't get a good picture of it during the parade but here it is in the field before.
As someone said when they saw this truck finally come on the parade route. "The parade is now complete".
~Chs PS. more of our fourth celebrations coming soon!!!
A bird named Kevin.
A couple weeks ago we received a frantic call from some friends of ours. They have quite a few Blue Jays nesting in their trees and one baby had fallen out the night before and was hopping around yelling. After waiting to see if the parents would hang around and take care of their prodigal chick, Faith and I drove over to see how it was and maybe take it home.
Well needless to say, baby bird ended up traveling home with us and was dubbed Kevin, by the Roehrer children after the bird in the Movie "UP".
Ahhh, beautiful warm sun.
Kevin is a doll she/he\it, has gotten rather independent now but still loves to come inside where it is cool in the hot afternoon and cuddle down on a finger for an afternoon nap. In fact I have the little creature perched on my left hand's fingers right now as I slowly peck with my right:-) Chs
Reflection: The briefness of life.
All flesh is grass, and all its loveliness is like the flower of the field. 7. The grass withers, the flower fades, because the breath of the Lord blows upon it; Surely the people are grass. 8. The grass withers, the flower fades, But the word of OUR God stands forever.!!!
Abandoned roads and darling doggies.
No, our Lap Top has not yet been fixed, I downloaded these pictures by a sneaky and devious route from Mr. Reiche:)!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Last Monday, Josiah and I had the oppurtunity of helping Mr. Reiche re-claim an old abandoned road, and make it into a hiking/biking trail. Mr. Reiche had gotten permission from the farmers who's ancestors the road had been named after, and who's property bordered and/or included most of the trail.

We made a quick stop to see one of the farmers, a friend of Mr. Reiche's who raises race horses, and were thrilled (or at least I was;) to see him exercising one of his gorgeous horses around his race track which circles a small lake. The Horses symmetry was absolutely beautiful to see; its legs working as matched pistons in a well balanced trot around the track.

As soon as we (I) were done watching the horse we drove back to our entrance to the "road" and began work. Some of the path was still quite clear and sitll had a road like appearance.

There was just a few logs here and there to clear and low branches to trim. In other parts though....

...grass touch-me-not's and other various weeds had made battle against the road and won. We went to war on the roads side and chopped down a path through the middle, leaving piles of vanquished foes behind us.

We made it all the way to the end of the road, and felt an overwhelming sense of accomplishment as we broke our way through the overhanging bush and popped out where the road used to connect. Mr. Reiche said he felt like Lewis, Clark and Sacajawea, breaking a path through the wilderness. So, tired but happy, wet but satisfied, we made our way back to the car and begin to wind our way down the drive towards home.

But we just had to stop when we saw the farm's puppies rambling around in the yard. AWWWW!

Six adorable, wiggly, soft, mutt puppies met us with effusive joy. Their mother was extensively passive and did not mind us grabbing hugging squeezing or kissing her puppies at all.

I believe this one was my favorite (but it is hard to tell, all six were darling). He was the chunk of the bunch, playful but not quite as rough and overly energetic as some of the others. Both Josiah and I had bundles of fun and were very grateful to Mr. Reiche for taking us along and letting us help.

Building Bridges!

Here is one of my draft post, that does have pictures. Though it is missing the last complete picture.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
One thing we brought up from Florida was Grandpa's Golf Cart, the transporting of which was a giant story all in its self. But once we had it at our house we now had the problem of how to get it over our stream to be able to access the back property.
We called in reinforcements, Mr. Reiche the resident expert bridge builder came to our rescue.
Board by board the bridge came together.
Since the Bridge has been finished we have used it all the time. Many wheels and feet have crossed it and it has been very very useful. Thank you much Mr. Reiche for your help.
Lap Top Demise.
Dear Blog readers, I apologize for the lack of posts, and am saddened to have to inform you, that for the indefinite future there will be no pictures on the following posts. Yep that's right, our lap top on which we have all our pictures loaded, has decided that it does not like our company and has gone into seclusion. In other words, it has stopped working! Soooo, I promise we are trying to recover the pictures, but until then I'm afraid you must be satisfied with picture-less blog posts.
Your disgraced blog mistress, Christianna H. Sauve
PS. Anyone out there really smart about computers? Want to help?!!!!!!!!
Good things come in small packages!
Last week while some of us were away in Florida cleaning out our Grandparents house, a lot of little packages arrived at our farm. First came of a package of animated moving darling cotton balls.
Our dear "Little Girl" hatched out seven little puff ball chicks!
Josiah took this picture and I just love it; with all the little chicks facing away the camera.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The next little package came as quite a surprise. You see our white goat Fiona was due to have her Baby the week before, and we were waiting with bated breath for her to finally deliver. Now please remember that we were absolutely positive that she would have white baby's, not because we are partial to that color, but because we had heard that white was the dominant color strain so unless you had a very dark buck you would probably end up with a white kid. So imagine our surprise when Grace found ....

...this little black kid in the pen with Fiona!!?!

Since he has a distinct resemblance to a donkey, some have used that as his name, while others prefer "burro", or even "Eeyore"! He does have problem nursing, and also has a funny wobbly leg, but so far has made it, though very small and weak.
