Can you guess what happened to poor Dina and why it took us 3 hours to get home instead of an hour and a half ?
(FYI - our 9yr old van is appropriately named after the loud, dinosaur-like noise that she makes.)
Calling for help. God truly blessed us by sending two ladies (with a small fender denter) to the same intersection we were stranded at. Since we did not have a cell phone and no way to contact anyone, dad was able to borrow one of the drivers phone and call the Eddys!
Saturday beamed bright and early (maybe a little too early for us late night firework watchers!) and the men folk headed down to the pond for a fishing derby! The contest was divided by age groups and the prizes went to the person with the longest fish!
Catch anything yet John? Besides Seaweed? Nope.
The young fisher. Josiah did the best of all of us that day with catching a 15 inch carp!! Unfortunately he wasn't the only one catching big fish, because across the pond another young man, in Josiah's age category brought in a 20 inch Carp!
Josiah's 'easy catch' 7 inch catfish. It turned out that he had actually hooked a broken double line that had this fish and a 9 inch carp on it! What a surprise!
Though I didn't get a picture of it, Shawn did caught a 9 inch catfish which turned out the be the largest fish in his age category! Hurray Shawn! Here Josh and Shawn look over his prize - a new light weight fishing rod.
Friday hosted a variety of activities including the annual Riverview Fest down at our public library. Though we only stayed for a little while, there sure was a lot to be offered with either paddle boats or kayaks on the pond, food and small gift stands to shop at, a portable barber shop, and of course all the old cars to look at!
Along with all the other old sport and pleasure cars, there were also a couple service and emergency vehices including this old fire truck.
The three stooges innocently waiting to climb the 'rock' wall!
Good job Josh! You made it to the top!
John, Shawn and Josiah heading up the wall.
The annual Riverview 4th of July fireworks(a week and a half early). Out of about 10 shots, this one was the best.
There are many events and happenings today that can remind us of stories in the Bible that taught us lessons (like Jesus' parables). One fine day this week, we had such a happening! It had been a cloudy and on and off rainy day. We were standing outside looking at the gorgeous cloud formations when a loud plunk attracted our attention. We looked around just in time to hear another such noise and see it's source, a large spiky object which we identified as a hailstone! As we watched more an more of this strangely shaped hail fall to the ground, we were struck by the way they seemed to be hurled out of the heavens, rather than just falling to the ground. It reminded us of what one might call the remote control hail story in the Bible found in Joshua 10:11. Following are some pictures of these remarkable hailstones!
June 12, 2006 was the day of our homeschool groups end of school picnic. The evening was filled with family fellowship, playing games and of course eating food! Below is just a highlight of all that took place that day. Enjoy!
Farwell to the Fox family as they travel over seas to serve the LORD! We will greatly miss you all!!
Along with all the other games we prepared we also brought the parachute for the kids to play around with, tossing balls, spinning and hiding under.
Christianna and Judah practice before the races.
Emily, Hannah and Wesley getting ready to hop!
The sack race twins!! Theresa was staying with us for the week so she and Christianna decided to wear their matching outfits for the picnic.
