Last Week...in pictures

The Chickens are getting bigger and bigger every day!

The chicken boy.

[All chicken photos were taken by Christianna]

From our garden. This was the first year we have grown sweet corn and even though they were rather small, they tasted ok! =)
On Wednesday we had our annual visit with our Uncle Dave from California. This year our great Aunt Bev was able to come too! We enjoyed a lovely lunch together and caught up on family happenings and looked at pictures they brought.

One evening last week, while out working on the chicken coop, we looked up to see this balloon floating over head.

Look closely and you will see our resident "chippyhacky". He lives in the tree across the street and frequently crosses the road to our side to collect acorns and entertain us with his antics!

Saturday evening found us in front row seats at the Listen and Learn concert in Troy featuring classical guitarist Ernesto Tamayo. It was a very enjoyable and inspiring(for me) event and as always it was great to see so many friends there too.

Homeschool Gathering

Last Saturday we had planned a homeschool reunion with our old group. However only one family could make it so we filled in with local homeschool families. It was a great day of games and food and great fellowship!
I'm not going to do too much commenting so you can just fill in the blanks and enjoy the pictures!

There is not a single family that comes over where the tire swing is not the main attraction!

Green, orange, blue and brown teams!

Abby -girl! One of the cutest babies around!

The all time favorite game!

Cute expression Mary!
Every one enjoyed playing four square too.
A great big thank you to the Mills family who traveled the long distance and helped out so much with food and games! We can't thank you enough! May God richly bless you!

Josiah and the Sunflower Pole

It made me think of Jack and the bean stalk when I saw Josiah walking around with this huge Sunflower stalk the other day. So of course I took some pictures of him.

What would I do if I didn't have a little brother who loves nature and finding ways to have fun with every little bit of it?!

What joy it is to be a boy....

Its Time to Take Our Country Back!

It's time to wake up and speak out and take back this country!
Here are some things we would like to share with you all.

Doug Phillips has several good articles and thoughts written about the political situation on his blog and Ron Paul also has some great things to say here.
Check them out, let us know what you think and above all let your decisions be guided by the Holy Spirit and may God's people take a stand for His truth and righteousness and not give in to the fears of this world and the lies of Satan anymore!

Watch, stand fast in the faith, be brave, be strong. I Cor. 16:13

Today...Dry Land

Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained. And the waters receded continually from the earth. At the end of the hundred and fifty days the waters decreased. Then the ark rested. Genensis 8:1-4a
We woke up this morning to see this out our back windows. Dry Land! Or at least not so much water as yesterday. Some people were disappointed as our canoeing was very short lived, but we are thankful that the water did go down so fast and hopefully our garden is not totally lost.

Its almost like nothing happened! One day the road is about to be washed out and the next it is almost dry and smoothed over. Amazing!
Now for the cold, damp weather that is setting in .... ready or not, here comes Fall!

Thanks to Hurricane Ike

Faith caught this picture yesterday of this poor little fellow trying to stay dry in Josiah boat when the water started rising.

Today our backyard looks like this...and every moment its getting even worse!

Canoe ride anyone!?!

Josh and Josiah canoeing through our yard. The water got even higher and as neighbors came over to see our lovely waterway, they were able to float through the opening in the fence and out back where we hope to put our much needed pond!

We never would have dreamed of (or wished for) something like this! Thank the Lord we are still dry, and even though this might look bad I know that there are many more people down in Texas that have it a lot worse that this.

Checking out the road with the neighbors.

....or what used to be the road. One neighbor came out in his four wheeler. You could almost use a skidoo!
We will see what tomorrow looks like.

Goodnight, from Lily Spring Pond. =)

Sunday

Good and upright is the LORD; therefore He teaches sinners in the way. The humble He guides in justice, and the humble He teaches His way. All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, to such as keep His covenant and His testimonies. For Your name’s sake, O LORD, pardon my iniquity, for it is great. Who is the man that fears the LORD? Him shall He teach in the way He chooses. Psalm 25:8-12

After service and lunch we headed out back to walk the paths.

Lincoln found one of the last Blackberries!

Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, for You are the God of my salvation; on You I wait all the day. Psalm 25:4-5

Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God; your Spirit is good. Lead me in the land of uprightness. Psalm 143:10

The Weekend, Labor Day and This Week

Last Saturday mom and us girl went to our cousin's baby shower (or rather his wife's).

Natalie opening gifts

We enjoyed a light meal and some interactive games celebrating motherhood.

This week started off with Labor day of course! We enjoyed a great afternoon and evening with friends over at the Johnson's farm!

Adorable Lydia...minus her equally adorable smile.

On Thursday five of us headed South to visit friends. It was a long day of driving, catching up with friends and fun! This picture was taken on our drive home. =)

Friday was Mom and Dad's 27th anniversary!
Grace made this "out of this world" Chocolate Peanut butter pie. (Her own creations from two recipes)
Faith made this refreshing "Eggnog Pie"

And Christianna made these yummy Wedding Bell Papaya scones (for our weekly baking challenge created by these amazing chefs!).
They enjoyed the day out together for lunch and a walk at the park and around town.

Happy Anniversary! May the Lord be the center of your marriage and give you many more years to come!
