Saying Goodbye

Not quite 9 years ago, we welcomed into our family a new member.  Rescued from an older couple who could no longer take care of her, Baby originally came to our home on "trial".  Just to see if it would work out.  Well, she never went back, and soon became a part of our lives.  She was more cat than dog, and a bit aloof, but still loved to go for W.A.L.K's (we had to spell it out or she would know what we meant) and would go on crazy rampages if we left her alone in the house too long. She was terrified of thunder, hated taking baths, but loved walking in rivers.   As she grew older she wheedled her way onto our couches and beds, using her big brown eyes to their fullest asset.   For the past year or so, most of her life was taken up with sleeping in her comfy spots, with occasional quick trips outdoors.  We were never quite sure how old she was but we guessed around 14 this fall.  But she didn't quite make it to this next "Baby day" as we called October 19th, the day we brought her home.
Baby died last Tuesday, and will be remembered as the first staying dog of the Sauve family, and will be loved and missed for all her funny quirks and ways.
