Sculptures, Slingshots and Smiles

As the snow became a little more packable, Dad added to our sculptures on the deck.

A turtle, a heart...

and a dolphin.

We also had a whole bunch of rotting growing potatoes, and Josiah had the great idea of shooting them out back with our three man slingshot. We had great fun, Josiah even set up a sled by the pond for a target, I never hit it:).

We saved some potatoes, so some of the people from our church could shoot them Sunday afternoon.

Almost everyone had a try or two.

Pull, aim carefully...

and shoot!

Sister gave a valiant try.

She fell backward with the effort and nearly knocked Faith over.

Pull Tiny, pull!!! We had a great time. Even though no one hit the sled, the potatoes flew great distances, most over our fence and some all the way across the pond!

The big snow storm!

Finally Josiah got the snow storm he had been waiting all winter for!

We woke up on Wednesday morning to find the world snuggled deep into a clean white blanket. So pretty and simply dazzling.

Align CenterSoft and droopy, piling in white lumps on top of everything.

So we all headed out to clear the driveway, of its blanket.

Since Josh is gone, Josiah is the new tractor/plow driver.

He seems to enjoy his job, and makes good work of it too.

Dad, Mom and I helped out with shovels.

Later in the afternoon Josiah went outside to take pictures of Gods glorious white world.

Baby joined him.;)

Daddy loves to sculpture the snow, in the past he has created, a chicken, a whale, a lion and a chinchilla. This year it was a monstrous alligator. The details are beautiful up close.

Snow has to be one of Gods most amazing creations. Think about it; each drift of snow is made up by millions of snowflakes, each snowflakes by tiny crystals, and each crystals by water droplets. His works are glorious!!!!!!!

Stacking letters, creating words.

Whenever we start back into our schooling after our winter break, Mother always has a week of educational games before we start in for earnest. One of the games we played this year was, UpWords. A more complicated sophisticated version of Scrabble.

We had dictionaries handy, supposedly just to "check"word we had already thought of to make sure they were real.

Whenever I have played scrabble I have always had a hard time thinking of more than four letter words. With UP Words, though you can always stack on someones else idea! This is what we started out with. (Yes mailer is a word, look in Websters 1828 dictionary)

This is how we ended!
