Parading in Hadley!
Even though the reason for going to the parade was to support and promote Mr. Shepherd and his campaign, I am sad to say that this is the only picture I got of our float, and worst of all, it doesn't even have Mr. Shepherd in it!! If you haven't already, please check out his website and if you live up in the Lapeer or St. Claire county area, please stand up for truth and the foundations this nation was built on and vote this fall for Howard Shepherd for Michigan State Senate! www.shepherdforsenate.com
"Kalifornia 'er Bust - Probly Bust"
At the end of the line of tractors stationed in the field, there sat the most interesting little automobile we had ever seen! A 1917 Model T, still running, with wooden spoke wheels, a flat bed that carried a bunch of antique farm tools, and sported some quirky phrases, sat before our eyes. With amazement that anyone could keep it working so well we stood around (and of course took pictures) and admired this timepiece from history! Quite a masterpiece, and the prize winning automobile of the whole parade (at least in our eyes)!
As we waited for our lunch to be ready, Theresa and I (Grace) wandered toward the old mill where a lady was sitting with a backdrop of old quilts, spinning wool. She asked us if we would like to try our hand at making some yarn, and with our consent, quickly showed us how to use a drop spindle. At first it did not seem to be working right, but soon we were getting it down a little smoother and though our little lesson was quickly over, enjoyed the experience very much!
