The Hot Spell

"Early in July the weather turned very hot,
'Ain't had a spell like this in Fourteen years,'  Eli Scaynes said happily.
Each day it was hotter.  Julian and Portia felt proud of it.
'The thermometer say 95 degrees,'  Julian announced one morning; and on the next he said triumphantly, 'It's 98!'
And then one day it was 100, and the children were overjoyed, though the grownups were not."

(So our really hot spell came in late June instead of early July, and it still is reaching in the 90's every day.)

I have to remind myself that y'all are much further north than we are. We had a week of 100' plus, and were so thankful when the cold front came through so that our highs were only in the 90s. In fact, its been a cool summer with only 1 week in the 100s so far.

Ah, the difference latitude makes!

That is so funny! You are right, I guess our pathetic one day over 100 degrees isn't very impressive to those in the south. My brother is visiting from Texas this week and he was hoping for more Michigan like weather. :)
