Baskets, Baskets and More Baskets!

Baskets, boxes of stuffing, breads and chocolates, spice nuts, teas and cocoa...Our library was invaded last week as we were given the opportunity to make 18 (plus 4 for this week) gift baskets for a friend of ours who is a therapist and wanted to give something in thanks to all the doctors that refer people to his clinic. We had a most enjoyable time baking tea breads (Cinnamon Raisin, Cranberry Orange, Banana Nut, and Zucchini), finding stuff to put in them and putting together these baskets full of goodies! This all sounds familiar, as we ( Joy & Kortney, Megan, and Russ & JaLane & children) decided again this year to find some needy families or individuals to bring needed items to. We checked with our Ward Bishop and he indicated 5 single older ladies in the Senior apts. to the south of our condo that needed a boost. As we were starting to organize ourselves, he called back and said it sounded like such a good idea, that he decided to use a large cash donation to do the same thing for 55 more people. We agreed to do the shopping for all, and bought "baskets" and filled them with goodies and essentials such as a flashlight, a calendar, hot cocoa , socks, kleenex, etc. and wrapped them all up and delivered them Dec. 16th. All were well received and are still talking about it. We also collected 100 each of gloves, hats, pairs of socks, and a few scarves, and 10 garbage bags of gently used coats & clothing and took them to three different shelters last week. As you found out, such projects are time consuming , but very rewarding . " As I have loved you....love one another". A quote I found as I was making cards that was timely is " TO GIVE IS TO FORGET, TO RECEIVE IS TO REMEMBER".
